Studio 538 - Lancome/Luvngrace Present RAPHAEL MAZZUCCO
Wednesday, February 10, 2010
The luvngraceaffair red carpet event of Friday 5, 2010 for world famous photographer, Raphael Mazzucco, was an outrageous success. The event was held at Studio 538 an upscale venue that had two floors to mingle with gorgeous models, admiring photographers and excited enthusiasts for Raphael’s work. It was a night to remember.
Above the dance floor projections of Raphael’s photos and art pieces were shown throughout the enchanted evening. It was a portfolio with a selection of edgy fashion photos that he had taken for top designers such as Ralph Lauren, exquisite photos he had taken of beautiful models for popular publications such as Sports Illustrated and some of his art installations where he combines photos of women surrounded by painted bold colors to accelerate moods and grab your attention to their smouldering eyes or thought provoking expressions. They were amazing and impressive to behold. Later in the evening there was another visual presentation of his current work today for Lancome where he is combining his artistic expression with their new cosmetics line so that you don’t only feel feminine and pretty wearing the product but also buying it with it’s elegant packaging and bold new campaign to create a whole pampering experience from their ads, their products and the lifestyle of a Lancome wearing girl. Art integrates fashion integrates beauty integrates life.
The event had a lot of class. The upstairs room had a talented DJ that kept the fun atmosphere going all night. Downstairs the music was a touch softer with a more sit down social feel with plush leather sofas and candlelight. Beautiful women handed out free samples of cosmopolitans and some limited Lancome gift bags of cosmetics and the room was full of a vibrant energy where everyone was full of life, enthusiasm and adventure. Raphael was there along with his loving and proud family to celebrate his success. If you were lucky you may have even been able to talk to him for a while as he was surrounded by a constant whirlwind of well wishers and adoring fans. One of the highlights of my evening was chatting briefly with his elegant mother who was beaming with pride at her son’s work.
Luvngrace Affair was originally started so we could have events to celebrate the nightclub Luvaffair that had closed down many years ago and was the highlight of the late 80’s and early 90’s party and music scene in Vancouver. Vernard J. Goud, who felt that the night life in our town had been on a downward slide and that we needed to have events that were large and fun again that were more than just music but celebrated art, fashion and people, began to organize events encompassing his dream and www.luvngraceaffair.com was born. After years of promoting David Bowie glam balls, retro nights and club nights full of artists, entertainers and the best DJ’s the city has to offer he has begun to start bringing more of the New York, Los Angeles style scene here with high class events and world class people. He is now creating high fashion events and promoting art and talent that stimulates the world view and not just our little neighbourhood. This is promoter to keep your eye on as you know that whatever he is planning next will be a memorable experience full of mirth, inspirational people and exceptional music. He would like to plan more upscale events in the future including a possible show of Raphael Mazzucco art installations. That would be a fantastic event. Not only is Vernard doing an incredible job at breathing life back into the Vancouver night scene, he also has the best hair of anyone I know. When I compared it to Richard Grieco of 21 Jump Street, which had also been filmed here in Vancouver in the 80’s, he revealed to me that he used to be Richard’s stand in. This is a man of many talents and brimming with charisma that is an asset to our scene. So don’t miss out, keep checking the luvngrace affair website or join their facebook group to keep up to date on what or who is happening next.
